What is Fȳrfolk?
A place where Wonderers gather around Campfires to discuss a topic: a question, an idea, a shared interest or a problem.
Why Fȳrfolk exists
Everyone knows something. Nobody knows everything. The best answers to a good question usually come from many people looking at it from different angles.
Fȳrfolk gives Wonderers a warm, focused place to gather around a topic, away from endless feeds.
Every kind of knowing counts
A professional's expertise, the practical know-how of someone who has done it, the passion of a hobbyist, lived experience and plain curiosity are all valued here.
Nobody is ranked. Wonderers describe what they bring and how deeply. Any qualifications are self-declared and labelled that way.
How a Fire works
Anyone can light a Campfire around a question, idea, interest or problem. The person who lights it chooses whether it is public or invite-only, and whether people join straight away or ask first.
The creator can appoint hosts to help welcome people and look after the conversation.
Why Fires are extinguished
Conversations have a natural end. When a Fire has done its job, the creator or a host extinguishes it, which closes it to new messages and new Wonderers.
This keeps conversations focused and finished. The history stays readable for the people who took part, and no one else.
